Maneeshaji has been running Maneesha Nrityalaya Kathak dance academy in Pune, India since 1975. She has trained some fine young dance performers and teachers in the field such as her own daughter Shambhavi Vaze, Manjiri Karulkar who has been a Kathak teacher in the Tashkent Indian Embassy, Shilpa Datar who specializes in training children with hearing impairment, and many others.
Maneeshaji's dance style is a fine amalgamation of tradition and innovation, purity and clarity finding an ideal balance between the Lasya-Tandava aspects of dance. She has choreographed innumerable dance pieces and dance ballets which bear the watermark of her unique style.
In the lecture demonstration she will talk about the fundamentals of teaching Kathak, moulding the teaching skills into the art of performing, the psychology of students with various age groups and focus and some commonly made mistakes while teaching Kathak.
